The TWInning Laboratory for an Innovative, Global Hub To Explore the Deep (TWILIGHTED) is an innovative European project building deep-sea research capacity in Madeira, with the intention to create a new way of doing deep-sea research: together. By focusing on low-cost methods and creating a collaborative space for all, we seek to enable more scientists from more places around the world to participate in deep-sea research and innovation.

Doing Impossible Things
A glimpse into our first workshop
We hosted our first Impossible Things Workshop in March 2025 at the Dreams Resort in Madeira, Portugal. It was a great opportunity to inject some new ideas into deep-sea research, as we try to be more creative and reduce the costs to explore Madeira’s deep waters.
