Our project kick-off meeting is taking this week in Funchal, Madeira! We’re welcoming our project partners to review our work plan, brainstorm and strategize for the coming years. It’s going to be a busy couple of days!
While we’re all in Madeira, we also want to share our project with the community and our collaborators. For this, we’re hosting a public session on the morning of the 24th October at the Golden Residence Hotel. Our project coordinator from MARE-Madeira (João Canning-Clode) and project partners from GEOMAR (Jan Dierking) and NTNU (Martin Ludvigsen) will be representing the consortium to share the project, their recent work and ambitions for the global deep-sea hub.
We are also welcoming some of our collaborators to share their knowledge and experience in deep-sea research in Madeira and wider Portugal. Our amazing speakers include Manuel Biscoito (Head of the Funchal Marine Biology Station), Kirsten and Joachim Jakobsen (administrators of the Rebikoff-Niggeler Foundation), Telmo Morato (Principal Investigator at Okeanos and Co-Lead of its Azores Deep-Sea Ecology Research Group), and Joana Xavier (Principal Investigator at CIIMAR and Lead of its Deep-Sea Conservation and Ecology Research Group).
